Don't Black Out is modern dance work composed for an MFA candidate, Mei Hsiu Chan, in the school of dance at Arizona state university. It was composed, performed and recorded by the composer, who scored the music to fit the choreography and was also the music director for the premiere. Dr. Mei Hsiu Chan, Ph.D. is a US Citizen, has toured with the Chinese Acrobats Good Will Mission, Chinese Classical Ballet and Chinese Martial Arts and teaches Chinese Culture at ASU.

"Don't Black Out" was commissioned by Mei Hsiu Chan, and premiered at the ASU School of Dance, Tempe, AZ in 1988.
