They Heard An Owl Hoot is a multimedia and dance work featuring an old Mohican story about an old man who is visited by an owl, and they communicate with each other as the man throws some tobacco on the fire to send smoke up to the owl in the trees. The work was choreographed by Lisa Chow in collaboration with the soundtrack's creation.

"They Heard An Owl Hoot" was commissioned by the Heard Museum, and was performed by Lisa Chow and dancers, with Brent Michael Davids on flutes, Phoenix, AZ, in 1987.
