SPIRIT WOMAN SONG is an operatic aria and also highly reminiscent of an American Indian song. "Spirit Woman Song" is performed in its entirety using only American Indian “vocables.” American Indian vocables are syllables that form an intertribal way of communicating feelings in songs. In the opera workshop setting, the Spirit Woman character was an ethereal figure one might consider as mother earth. The literary character of Spirit Woman is copyrighted 2001 by Marcie R. Rendon.

The "Spirit Woman Song" aria was composed as part of an opera workshop, and was rehearsed and performed with piano accompaniment by Nautilus New Music Workshop in Saint Paul, MN, in 2002.
